2 Donleavy, J. P. J.P. Donleavy's Ireland: In All Her Sins and in Some of Her Graces
New York, New York, U.S.A. Viking Press 1986 0670813184 / 9780670813186 Hard Cover Very Good + Very Good +
A photo of this book is available. Very-good+, clean copy of this over-sized hardback. NO remainder marks or price clippings. Price inside dustcover: $19.95. Dark-green endpapers. Tight spine, bright pages. Nicely illustrated throughout. Dustcover is clean and bright, shows light wear and two, very-small, closed tears. NO writing, marks or tears inside book. Previous owner's stamp on top and side (outside page edges). IF NOT for this, I would have rated the book as Fine Condition. Dark-green boards with gilt lettering (clean and bright). Publishers Weekly: In 1946, Donleavy (The Ginger Man left his Bronx home for Ireland to study at Trinity College. What ensued was more a rake's progress than conventional university experience, as Donleavy recounts his initiation into Irish society, chiefly at the subterranean or bohemian level. A peer of the legendary Brendan Behan in brawling and roistering, he frequented the pubs, clubs, brothels that undergirded Dublin's literary and social circles, commencing the love-hate relationship that caused him to settle permanently in County Westmeath in the 1950s, when Ireland offered a tax-free haven to working aritsts. Expectedly irreverent, outrageous and witty, Donleavy peppers this quasi-autobiography with anecdotes about amours, marriages, donnybrooks and his amazingly accepting family. The author's own photos generously illustrate the volume.

3 Donleavy, J. P. Wrong Information Is Being Given Out at Princeton: The Chronicle of One of the Strangest Stories Ever to Be Rumoured About Around New York
New York, New York, U.S.A. Griffin 1999 0312244991 / 9780312244996 Trade Paperback Near-Fine Banfield, Elliot
Near-fine condition. NO remainder marks or price clippings - Tight spine - Bright pages. Illustrated. NO writing, marks or tears inside book. 323 pages - Alfonso Stephen O'Kelly, known as Stephen, son of rumored former bootleggers, ex-naval gunner, unemployed composer, student of dairy cattle in Wisconsin and of music in Italy, has little to recommend him as a marriage prospect but his tender heart, his chivalry, and his comprehensive knowledge of the great city of New York. So when the exquisitely pneumatic and extraordinarily wealthy Sylvia Triumphington, adored adoptive heiress to the Triumphington family fortune, sets her sights on him, Stephen is caught quite off guard. Marrying into the Triumphington fortune, Stephen gets more than he bargained for. Sylvia's unexpected taste for rough sex, her obsession with finding her real mother, and her proclivity for spending Stephen's nonexistent money are enough for him to handle, but then there is the arrogant and unpredictable adoptive father and his elegant and insatiable wife, Drusilla, to whom Stephen conspicuously and inconveniently is attracted. And then, of course, there is the wrong information.... Featuring fourteen refined and witty illustrations by Elliot Banfield, the artist whose drawings enhanced the colorful antics of The Lady Who Liked Clean Restrooms, Wrong Information Is Being Given Out at Princeton is an elegy on passion, a glorious, irreverent, and picaresque journey. There are very few writers who can send a story soaring while being sexy, funny, bilious, and wise. Here is a novel to savor as you would a well-poured stout." --The Sunday Telegraph "Viscerally affecting, a truthful catalog of suffering and exaltation." --Rain Taxi
