Tight spine, clean pages. Pages show only light tanning. NO foxing. NO writing or tears inside book. Pictorial endpapers. Three thousand copies of this book, in two volumes, were printed in Pittsburgh in the war years, 1943 and 1944. Type was composed by the printer, Davis and Warde. The text was set in Linotype Baskerville, with Bulmer for the main headings and Cincinnati Initials to mark chapter beginnings, both American types. The illustrations have been reproduced in aquatone by Edward Stern and Company. Drawings for end paper decorations are by Ward Hunter. The binding is the work of George McKibben and Son.
