A photo of this book is available. Near-new condition. NO remainder marks or dustcover clippings. Dustcover is clean and bright, shows slight wear (NO tears). Tight spine, clean pages. NO writing, marks or tears inside book. 176 pages. From Publishers Weekly: In his first novel, Nathan, who writes PW 's Rights column, introduces a likable, witty amateur detective who could be a model of his kind for the '90s. Bert Swain is a divorced, middle-aged writer with an understated sense of humor--the sort of fellow who is polite but never stuffy. When offered a job in New York directing publicity for the Krinsky Research Center, a major medical research facility, the Florida-based Bert jumps at the chance to get back to the city he loves and be nearer his 11-year-old daughter, who lives with her mother in Toronto. His first task is to handle the abrupt decamping of a prominent scientist; his second, to help find missing researcher Faith Frawley, is not as easy. He learns that Faith may have been seeing someone from the Center, but his only clue is a bottle of Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey in the teetotaling woman's apartment. Suspecting murder, Bert contacts the police, and while working with them must toe a fine line to keep his job at a company harboring a killer even while helping to rout out the miscreant. Aided by a new lady love, who is the Center's comptroller, genteel Bert manages to solve a few crimes, avoid violent death and save both the reputation of the Center and his job. Delighted readers will welcome the next promised Bert Swain adventure. Mystery Guild selection. Copyright 1994 Reed Business Information, Inc

2 Nathan, Paul; Michener, James (Foreword) Texas Collects: Fine Art, Furniture, Windmills, and Whimseys
Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. Taylor Publishing 1988 0878335544 / 9780878335541 Hard Cover Fine Near-Fine
Near-new copy of this over-sized and heavy hardback. NO remainder marks or price clippings. Price inside dustcover: $45.00. NO writing or tears inside book. Tight spine, bright pages. Beautifully illustrated throughout. 216 pages. Publishers Weekly PW 's Rights columnist Nathan had the bright idea of chronicling remarkable art collections, both personal and public, in a state renowned for wealthy and often eccentric collectors. As honorary Texan Michener notes in his foreword, much of the most notable art in Texas is to be seen in private homes rather than museums, which have only recently begun to rival institutions elsewhere in the country in the quality of their holdings. Nathan here assembles his own beguiling collection, ranging from the eclectic accumulation of the immortally named Ima Hogg to that of the undeniably ostentatious Wendy Reves, who gave a priceless group of holdings to the Dallas Museum of Art with the proviso that it be housed in a replica of the rooms in her Mediterranean villa. The profiles of collectors and collections are chatty, nicely varied, informative. Also included are 200 color pictures (only some of which were seen by PW ) to illustrate the collections in all their diversity. This is at once social history and art bookand likely to be of inter est far beyond Texas borders.
